IS WIZKID BIGGER THAN FELLA?

 

Wizkid reserves the right to his responses. You can’t provoke someone and then try to dictate how they should react. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Wizkid is a global star who has achieved a lot for himself and for Afrobeats, both internationally and locally. If he says he’s bigger than Fela Kuti and the entire music industry, then that’s his opinion. Why are you so upset?

Nobody should attempt to discredit Wizkid’s craft in order to elevate Fela. Fela is a legend, he came, he saw, he conquered, and he exited the stage, leaving room for the next generation to thrive and they're doing it so well.

Fela’s children should relax and stop forcing people to “respect” their father. Not everyone will care about or reference him, and that’s reality. As I mentioned in one of my publications on this matter, the next generation may not reference or acknowledge Fela at all. Their reference points will be Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Olamide, Phyno, 2Baba, Rema, and others.

Instead of fighting these battles, Fela’s children should focus on properly immortalizing their father. If I were one of them, I would have branded a marijuana strain called Fela and developed his gravesite into a tourist attraction, something that draws people from around the world to experience the legacy of the legendary Fela.
