IN UYO... It was a bright Friday morning, August 1st, 2025, when the ICT Phase 2 auditorium of the University of Uyo came alive with energy, anticipation, and a sense of purpose. Over 600 eager young people from across Akwa Ibom State gathered for what would mark the beginning of a transformative journey...the official orientation ceremony for Cohort 3 of the Ibom Ideas Project’s Free Digital Skills Training.
The event began with a warm welcome by Project Coordinator, Enoabasi Emah, who passionately outlined the structure of the training. She explained that the program isn’t just about acquiring digital skills but is a 5-stage empowerment model...from training to internship, assessment, professional CPN examination, and certification, all offered at no cost to beneficiaries.
“This is not just training; it’s a pathway to a future-proof career,” she stated, drawing loud applause from the audience.

The keynote charge came from Project Lead, Mr. Samuel Ukut , who spoke with conviction about the urgency of digital literacy in today’s world.

“In this age, tech knowledge isn’t optional...it’s oxygen. To every young Akwa Ibomite here, this is your time. Own it,” he declared.
He also took a moment to appreciate the project’s partners and sponsors, whose commitment to human capacity development made the program possible.

The ceremony reached its intellectual peak with keynote speeches from two seasoned tech professionals:

Obong Hanson, a leading Digital Marketing Strategist, opened minds with the topic “Opportunities Embedded in the Tech Ecosystem,”
While Manasseh Victor, CEO of FutureLabs, inspired with “No Experience, No Problem: Building a Career in Tech from Ground Up.”
Participants were also introduced to their training modules by assigned facilitators who gave a sneak peek into courses like Digital Marketing, Web Development, and Virtual Assistance...equipping learners with practical, in-demand skills to thrive in the digital economy.

The event ended on a reflective note as participants expressed sincere gratitude for being selected. Many described it as a life-changing opportunity to learn and earn without hidden costs, and a chance to rewrite their stories with tech.
With the stage set and spirits high, Ibom Ideas Project Cohort 3 is officially underway...preparing the next generation of tech-savvy, future-ready Akwa Ibomites.
